Senior Financial Accountant
RCN UK HQ, 35 hours per week, Permanent
As Senior Financial Accountant you will be responsible for managing the financial accounting and treasury management function for the RCN, the RCN Foundation and some functions of the RCNi treasury management function. You will effectively and efficiently manage the year end process for the RCN Group, RCN and RCN Foundation and other RCN Group entities as required. You will be the recognised go to person for all matters relating to accounting regulation including both FRS 102 and Charity SORP, and the day to day lead with the RCN Group's external auditors. Your recognition within the RCN Group will extend to being the recognised expert on all VAT matters and first contact for corporation tax issues.
You will manage a small team, which not only includes a full financial accounting function, but also includes responsibility for day to day management and oversight of all RCN and RCN Foundation banking, treasury and investment management arrangements and the RCNi cashiering and banking function related to sales and purchase invoices.
You will take up this role at an exciting time, as the RCN is currently transforming the way it delivers its services to members and other stakeholders, and implementing a new commercial strategy. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the work to develop and imbed new systems and processes relating to income and expenditure across the group, to ensure the user journey for all our stakeholders is as seamless as possible. There will be opportunity within the remit of the role to take part in work across the RCN Group.
As a member of the finance department's Senior Management Team, you have the opportunity to be part of the continuous development and enhancement of all finance policy and processes, which stretch across the RCN Group and all its entities. To succeed in this role you will hold a recognised CCAB qualification, be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of accounting standards and regulation with significant experience in other financial accounting roles. You will bring to the role a desire to proactively engage with both finance department colleagues and senior managers across the RCN Group to ensure control frameworks are robust, effective and fit for purpose within the dynamic and diverse organisation, which is the Royal College of Nursing.
