Assistant Financial Accountant

RCN UK HQ, 35 hours per week, Permanent Contract

As an Assistant Financial Accountant you'll use your positive attitude, your knowledge of financial accounting and reconciliation skills to deliver high quality support to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and RCN Foundation.

Every day will be filled with possibilities as you find new ways to manage and support the development of your team. As our Assistant Financial Accountant, you will use your enthusiasm, your positivity and your customer service skills to be the first point of contact for the financial accounting team and the auditors.

In this varied role every day will be filled with possibilities. You will get involved in anything from balance sheet reconciliations to accounting for investments and providing effective cover for the cashier. We'll look to you to prepare accurate balance sheet reconciliations for the RCN, assist with maintaining the fixed asset register and assist with cashbook posting and reconciliation for membership and events income recorded through the Customer Relationship Management database. It's a great way to build on your skills and experience and develop your potential.

A key part of what you do will be to use your initiative to suggest innovative approaches to new reconciliations. You will use your strong interpersonal skills to liaise with colleagues across the organisation.

As an Assistant Financial Accountant for the Finance Department at the RCN, you will have the opportunity to get to know everything that is needed to run this amazing organisation as well as its charitable subsidiary, the RCN Foundation.

What we offer you

We expect you to look after your customers. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. As well as a whole range of learning and development opportunities we can also offer you an impressive range of benefits. We have a highly competitive pay structure, as well as flexible working, and annual leave of up to 32 days.

Balancing work and life commitments is important to us as an organisation. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs. All employees can ask for flexible working and when personal circumstances change we will work with you to find a smarter working solution that suits everyone. In fact, many of our employees enjoy home working, flexible working or compressed hours, enabling them to deliver results with minimum impact to their professional and personal commitments. We also offer generous Maternity, Paternity and Adoption leave packages.

As well as exceptional customer service, to join us you'll need an in-depth knowledge of accounting, a basic understanding of VAT, and the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial managers.

You'll be studying towards a recognised CCAB qualification, with experience of producing balance sheet reconciliations, maintain fixed asset registers and cashiering experience. The ability to encourage close collaboration between various teams of the finance departments is key for this role.

Whatever your background, you'll be efficient, accurate and show a real customer focus in all you do.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything's possible.
