At the Royal College of Nursing we’re an optimistic organisation. And we’ve got good reason to be. We all share the same voice when it comes to changing the shape of the health policies of the future. And as the largest trade union of nursing staff and students in the UK – with close to half a million members – all we can see are the infinite possibilities for a brighter future. Join us and you will too.
Our people matter. It is only through our people that we are able to deliver for our members and provide the high-quality products and services that keep our members and other customers with us, and attract new ones every day. Our people are our greatest asset, and we want people who can contribute to our purpose in line with our values.
As our Learning and Development Consultant, you will lead on the design and delivery of our learning and development service for over 1000 people.
Undertaking robust learning needs analysis, designing and delivering interventions and programmes in a blended model, and evaluating our offer to ensure relevance and return on investment, this role will be key in supporting the RCN to deliver for its members by ensuring our people are equipped to achieve.
You’ll be a champion for lifelong learning, encouraging our people to engage in creative and contemporary learning opportunities that enable them to fulfil their potential.
You’ll work closely with your immediate colleagues in the Learning & Organisational Development team as well as the wider People and Organisational Development team, RCN managers and subject matter experts both within and outside of the RCN to understand the need and to design and deliver relevant, high-quality interventions. You’ll also help to ensure we get the very best out of our learning management system.
As our Learning and Development Consultant you’ll play a key role in supporting and enabling our people on their development journey.
The base of this role will be our central London HQ which is a core base for the People and Organisational Development team as well as many of the RCN’s staff. It’s also where much of our face to face learning and development activity will take place, although some of our learning is delivered virtually.
You’ll be an accomplished learning and development practitioner with a track record of designing, delivering and evaluating learning and development activities, using a blended approach for a diverse audience of individuals and groups at all levels of an organisation. Preferably you’ll have experience of designing and delivering management development programmes.
You’ll bring excellent diagnostic and facilitation skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of contemporary learning and development practices. You’ll demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and a passion for delivering an exceptional service to your customers as well as the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Every day will be filled with possibilities, and we are always looking to do things better so you will have plenty of opportunity to work with the rest of the People and Organisational Development team to shape how things are done.
To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.
What we offer you
We expect you to look after your customers. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. Our pay is highly competitive with annual leave up to 32 days plus bank holidays. We offer an impressive range of benefits, a broad range of learning development opportunities and an award-winning health and wellbeing programme.
Balancing work and life commitments is important to us as an organisation. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs. We offer generous maternity, adoption, paternity, and shared parental leave packages.
