Associate Director of Group Digital Delivery, Products & Platforms

Negotiable between Cardiff and London, 35 hours, Permanent

£78,939 to £89,160 per annum

There is more to the RCN than you might think. We’re a trade union with a membership of over 465,000 nurses, midwives, nursing support workers and students. We support their practice, represent them, lobby on their behalf, and develop them. We exist to make a positive difference – to the working lives of our members and ultimately to standards in patient care. Our employees are drawn from many walks of life – we are nurses, marketers and communicators, administrators, IT professionals, policy and finance experts, lawyers… together we are so much more. We couldn’t do what we do without our people.

We're accredited with Investors in People Gold Standard. Our people are our greatest asset, and we want people who can contribute to our purpose in line with our values.

As our Associate Director of Group Digital Delivery, Products & Platforms, you will lead the development and delivery of the RCN Group’s digital products, services and technology solutions which meet the needs of the customers they serve.

You will be accountable for ensuring the RCN Group takes advantage of the latest and most appropriate digital and technology solutions to help deliver its overall vision and goals.

As well as a continuous curiosity to learn, to join us you’ll need extensive experience in successfully delivering digital products and technology solutions through the entire lifecycle in an agile environment.

You will have a strong software development background, along with knowledge of modern software development methods and tooling including DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery.

You will need to show adaptability, reliability, and the ability to handle high pressure situations together with a commitment to collaborative working. You will be an excellent communicator, with a passion for innovation and an enthusiastic approach to change, striving to increase positive experiences and engagement of our customers and members.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better, and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.

What we offer you

We expect you to look after our members and your customers. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. Our pay is highly competitive with annual leave up to 32 days. We offer an impressive range of benefits, a broad range of learning development opportunities and an award-winning health and wellbeing programme.

Balancing work and life commitments is important to us as an organisation. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs. Many of our employees enjoy flexible working enabling them to deliver results whilst having a good work life balance. We offer generous maternity, adoption, paternity, and shared parental leave packages.

As a result of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic most of our staff are currently working from home. When this ends, we’ll start trialling blended office and home working to empower our people to do their best work recognising that, to give our best, we must be able to balance the demands of work and home.
