Head of Organising

Negotiable Location, 35 hours, 12 Month Fixed Term/Secondment

As a key strategic and operational leader for the RCN you’ll be the UK Organising lead, developing and implementing a unique organising model across our organisation, which equally serves our dual functions as professional body and trade union, wherever our members work.

You’ll be responsible for driving the creation and implementation of an organising model, developing an organisational strategy to deliver an effective and efficient model across the organisation. Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders you’ll develop comprehensive, proactive, and structured activity to deliver this strategy. This will include close partnership working with elected and appointed member governance bodies across the RCN.

As organising becomes established, you’ll lead organising activity across the organisation, providing team leadership and confident, consistent communication of your strategy and vision.

The ability to lead, motivate, foster strong professional relationships and encourage close collaboration is at the heart of this leadership role. You’ll need extensive organising and campaigning experience including understanding of diverse organising methods as well as training and work experience in organising at senior level.

Your experience should be wide-ranging in managing successful union organising and other organising models as well as significant experience of supporting organisers to lead and win campaigns nationally and locally.
