Information Technology department
Our IT department provides day-to-day support for all our staff and delivers new projects and capabilities throughout the RCN. Opportunities could involve working within service desk, desktop and server support, audio visual support, business applications support, systems development, networking and telecommunications, infrastructure, information security, intranet and internet, and project delivery.
Supporting and developing
Our role is to ensure that the RCN has access to technology that can enhance and enable staff’s ways of working. When you work with us in this constantly developing area, you’ll help us anticipate potential improvements and new systems that will support the RCN’s success.
We are undertaking an ambitious programme of core system enhancements and replacements, and developing new capabilities through enhanced use of technology. The focus is on infrastructure renewal and stability, alongside enhanced functionality and efficiency through the use of IT.
Current projects which you could get involved in include:
- replacing the existing RCN intranet, website and membership database
- developing and expanding the existing virtual server capability
- improving flexible working
- reducing travel through enhanced use of technology
- embracing mobile working
- upgrading the desktop environment alongside the adoption of tablet computing.
Our department has staff based in both our UK headquarters in central London and our office at Cardiff Gate.
In our IT department you’ll participate in exciting new projects that will have the potential to transform the way the RCN works. Your hard work will have a direct impact on our staff and subsequently our members, who will benefit from the improvements you introduce and maintain.
