Chair of the RCN Foundation

The RCN Foundation is a charity and grant-maker that supports members of the nursing team (nurses, midwives, nursing students and health care assistants) to improve the health and wellbeing of the public. Our work encompasses three key areas:

  • supporting the most vulnerable members of the nursing community who are experiencing hardship by providing financial advice and grants
  • investing in the future of nursing by funding education and career development opportunities
  • funding innovative nursing-led projects that aim to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of the public.

In 2018 we embarked on an exciting growth strategy - Strategy 2020 - to reach more of the nursing community across the United Kingdom. Our aim is to help them provide the very best possible support and care to patients and improve the health and wellbeing of the public.

Our current Chair comes to end of the term in January 2019.

You will have an understanding of the key issues facing health care and nursing, and a strong commitment to our cause. You will also have experience of good charity governance, proven success in your own area of expertise, strong leadership, management and strategic skills, and the willingness to act in the best interests of the Foundation.

We are looking for someone who will bring energy, passion and drive to the role, and who wants to make a real difference to our work and through that, our beneficiaries.
